Environmental education may become mandatory for all public and private schools in UP. The step, aimed to be implemented from the next academic session, is a part of state government's green initiative.

Confirming this, principal secretary, forest, "Children are the future and need to be prepared for environmental challenges. They need to be oriented for the same and environment as a subject is the way."
