Printed Date: Friday, November 22, 2024 Fogging, awareness drives to fight dengue sting

The onset of monsoon brings relief from scorching temperatures but it also triggers favourable conditions for breeding of mosquitoes. In observance of the anti-dengue month in July, the district malaria officer, Yogesh Saraswat, has issued instructions to conduct fogging on all roads and byroads, awareness campaigns to ensure that people take all precautions and surveys to detect containers breeding mosquito larvae.

“Officials have been instructed to conduct awareness drives in two villages each day in the month of July so that dengue symptoms are reported to health authorities at the earliest. Meetings in this regard should be conducted in the villages and pamphlets should also be distributed,” read the instructions issued by Saraswat.

Under the initiative, fogging will be done in 80 civic body wards of the city. Teams of health department and municipal workers have been asked to ensure the anti-dengue drive continues without any hurdle.

“Surveys should also be conducted to check presence of larvae in water-filled containers of 20 houses in each village. Notice should be issued against people in whose houses larval presence is observed,” added Saraswat.

Instructions have also been given to take blood samples of people found suffering from fever. “The chief medical superintendents of government hospitals, heads of primary and community health centres should make a plan of action to treat dengue patients. Fogging should be conducted in villages after July 15,” Saraswat further said.
