We have been told to share the video among the peoplein the region so as to spread awareness about the disease, its causes and its symptoms,” said Meerut chief medical officer Dr Raj Kumar Chaudhary.

The statistics gathered from the Meerut health department show a spurt in cases of dengue in Meerut district over the years. The number of dengue cases has in fact tripled from 2015 to 2018 – rising from 205 in 2015 to 660 in 2017. However, in 2018, the number of dengue cases still remains nil.

The short film shows how a man is down with dengue fever but gets to know only after the doctor tells him that his fever had symptoms of dengue and it should not be taken easily. It focusses on how one should change the water in coolers and buckets on a weekly basis and cover the containers having water with lids. The film advices to wear full-sleeves clothes, shoes and socks to avoid a mosquito bite.

Meanwhile the district malaria department is conducting anti-larvae spray in urban and rural parts of the district.
