Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding Ganga pollution, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of M.C. Mehta Vs. Union of India & Others dated 08/03/2017 regarding Ganga pollution. Additional Municipal Commissioner, Nagar Nigam Kanpur submitted before NGT as stated that there are 110 wards and 1669 colonies in Kanpur city. The slums and illegal colonies have not been provided with any sewer line. The sewer or other discharge from these colonies and from the houses which are not provided the septic tanks is released into drains which meets the Corporation’s drain and ultimately it goes to the river Ganga.
